Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, little town that is a bit sleepy. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of diverse communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently confuse it with an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. When she was a child she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I outgrew my male companions, I quit. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. In the case of the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her into this path. Her teacher invited her to audition for a part in her school's production. She was chosen to play the lead part for Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. The show was granted a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. In the last 20 years, the roles played by Brugel in the world of television and on the screen have been varied. The character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the only Canadian actor during Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
